Discovery Scanner - 15/08/2022

Greetings Commanders.

Last week was quite a one! We're already getting enthusiastically stuck into this one with today's Discovery Scanner for starters.

Here's to a great week ahead for all. ‘Galactical Housekeeping’ time!

Game News

Update 13 Post Release Recap:
As many of you are very much aware, Update 13 arrived last week on August 9th. Full review of the update notes which accompanied this release can be found here.

  • On Friday we released a small supplement update to address a small number of issues, particularly around some unexpected behaviour with fines and bounties applying from erroneously active fire zones. More on this can be recapped here.
  • As with any aftermath (no pun intended but I’ll use the term anyway)  of updates and the wonderful stir of conversation they bring, we are still farming feedback and relaying discussions around remaining, highly talked about issues with the development team to ensure we can provide accurate responses regarding their acknowledgement and progress. We will be with you as soon as we can o7
  • In the coming weeks we plan to offer the option for PC players to launch the game on the 4.0 codebase to try it out.
    • Odyssey will still be an optional upgrade and necessary for on-foot content.
    • Players will still need to have the same version (Horizons or Odyssey) to instance together in game.
      • When the option to launch in 4.0 is made available to all PC players, instancing will be separate between 3.8 and 4.0 (as it has always been) and separate between Horizons and Odyssey on 4.0. There's no final state to confirm in situations like this which are always open to re-evaluation. If the situation changes, we'll make an announcement to that effect.
    • We appreciate there are still a number of questions around this subject matter for us to elaborate on and will answer as many as we can in due course.

Aftermath

What brings the Aftermath…?

We’re continuing to enjoy everyone’s progress so far as the new Aftermath chapter begins, following the intense happenings which brought The Azimuth Saga to a close.
There are already exciting discoveries being made, which leads us to echo again following last week’s Elite Dangerous Livestream #14 a bit congratulations to CMDR Kralone and teammate Nicou, who had a scientific breakthrough regarding Guardian Relics.

We'll spare further details for anyone continuing their own investigations further.

It still blows our minds just how many brave Commanders were present for the final button press on the Proteus Wave. Over 7500 Commanders were waiting in system alone for the weapon to fire. You’re all incredible.

Here’s just a very small but mighty sample of some incredible, ‘on topic’ shots from some talented Commanders.

Hutton Orbital Radio presents '2HOT2MESSY' Progress Report!
Amidst the impact The Hutton Orbital Truckers are continuing to find themselves in a 'Hot Mess' with their solid goal of delivering one Hutton Mug to every single station in the Galaxy well underway.

Here are a few fun facts so far!

  • Commanders engaged in the efforts have already 'discovered' over 2000 ports that no one has ever been to before.
  • 123 commanders from 47 squadrons so far have delivered to over 6500 stations and settlements.
  • Of those 6500 settlements approx a third have NEVER had a visit from any commander and now have had their first visit and first commodities sold.
  • Completion date is expected by around April, 3309.

As a reminder, for your efforts with the mammoth task at hand, Hutton Orbital Radio will be giving away one official, literal Hutton Mug a week until this mission is complete.

We also hear congratulations are in order for Commander Winny1974 who is the winner of the first 2hot2messy Hutton Mug for their efforts! Amazing!

For all information on how to get involved, head to this post on the official Elite Dangerous Forums.
To view ongoing efforts on the official leaderboards or to create an account to get your name shining in lights there too, head to the official Hot Mess 2 site, here.

As always Commanders, thank you so much for sharing such wonderful moments with us all!
