Discovery Scanner - 18/07/2022

Greetings Commanders.

We’re as fresh as can be from an incredible time in attendance at the much loved and iconic event on any Commander’s calendar - Lavecon 2022.

This edition of Discovery Scanner will recap a few fond memories from our time there but first let’s delve into that little bit of what I’m still tirelessly calling, ‘Galactical Housekeeping’.

 

Game News

Full force efforts continue with Community Goals from the last week, continuing onward.

DELIVER GUARDIAN ARTEFACTS TO THE BRIGHT SENTINEL IN HIP 22460 | 21 Hours Remaining.
Azimuth Biotech has repeated its call for Guardian artefacts to be delivered to the HIP 22460 system.

FIGHT THE THARGOIDS IN HIP 22460 | 2 Days Remaining.
As the Thargoid presence increases in the HIP 22460 system, Azimuth Biotech and the superpowers call for reinforcements.

SUPPORT FEDERAL STRIKE AGAINST CRIME SYNDICATE | 2 Days Remaining.
The Federation has offered bounties to hunt down all surviving Red Family ships in the Andowatye system.

Updates

Always essential to keep this point in as we move swiftly past the middle of the month.

We remain on target to welcome in the release of Update 13 this August.

• We don’t have any specifics currently to share regarding an exact date but as usual, as soon as we have more information to share, we will let you know.

We also have no further information around Console Profile Transfers, other than what has already been announced but again, as soon as we do have more we’ll be sharing it out.

Known issues concerning general stability in game around POIs/ground settlements and crashes preventing Commanders from currently enjoying CQC, as a reminder, remain known to the team as investigation efforts continue.

Summary: The Hunt for Polyphemus is an AX event open to all (Console and PC, Horizons and Odyssey) with credit rewards for the top 3 pilots on both Console and PC and even more credits for the overall winner such that they would win enough to purchase a Fleet Carrier.

Spotlight: GALA AT THE INVERNESS
Dates: 21 JUL 2022 > 22 JUL 2022
Start Time: 4:00:00 PM (GMT+1) 
End Time: 1:00:00 AM (GMT+1)
Location: Thraikoo PS-U e2-4 (DSSA Inverness / Thracian Nebula)
Summary: Just after Lavecon, join this event. Explorers and various personalities from all the Elite Dangerous Community and squadrons will meet at the DSSA Inverness to celebrate the start of At the Eldritch Gate Expedition!

Lavecon 2022

As mentioned “just a few times” already, we (the Community team) were more than excited to attend the first in-person Lavecon event since the last, three years ago.

 

With a prime selection of developers in tow, we hosted a Frameshift Live special on the main stage with Arthur projecting his every ounce of soul into the crowd, celebrated a very close win in the Saturday evening Lave Quiz with team captain Zac Cocken and generally enjoyed every moment we had chatting with our Commanders.

Not only was the fun and entertainment factor set to 100 by the incredible teams behind the event, the usual generosity we all know so well was ever strong too.
Commander BeetleJude held a silent auction of some of her art over in the Retro Room, which at the time of checking in this morning, has raised around £450 for Special Effect!

There was also, of course, the famous Lavecon Raffle with prizes donated from Commanders and Frontier teams alike, which has raised over £1000 in honour of both Special Effect and Ehlers-Danlos Support UK.
